HEY HO!!! Here's the newest BRICK news from Screen Daily.com. Another Hollywood Dream Secured! Rian should be a happy bastard just about now.
Sundance: Focus cements Brick purchase
Jeremy Kay in Los Angeles 30 January 2005
Focus Features has landed its second major acquisition in four days at Sundance, sealing worldwide rights to Rian Johnson’s award-winning Brick, a neo-noir set in a contemporary US high school .
Buyers had been tracking the film all week but Focus's persistence finally won out hours before Brick went on to share a special jury prize at Saturday's awards' ceremony.
Universal's specialist division paid nearly $3m for the picture, a Lynchian homage to the gumshoe genre that Focus will release domestically and sell to international buyers overseas. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Lukas Haas star in a drama whose characters speak in classic noir dialogue.
The American Dramatic Competition entry has been a sell-out all week. Before a screening last Wednesday, festival director Geoff Gilmore told the audience that Johnson was the “finest” director at this year’s festival.
"This film is one of the most dynamic directorial debuts we've seen in years," Focus co-president David Linde said. "Rian's fresh, original approach to the genre will attract filmgoers worldwide."
Avy Eschenasy and Jason Resnick negotiated the deal for Focus with Cinetic Media’s John Sloss, who reportedly stuck to his guns on getting a decent price after some buyers baulked initially.
Focus previously acquired North American rights to Gaby Dellal’s Sundance World Dramatic Competition premiere On A Clear Day, starring Peter Mullan and Brenda Blethyn.

I can't wait to see Brick at the ARCLIGHT!

Right?! I would make a special trip for that pleasure. Although, I certainly hope friendship points will score me a DVD the INSTANT one becomes available.

Does anyone have a copy of the "brick" trailer on their drives and or know a link where i can either download or watch it? Being that the brickmovie.net site has it taken down. I'm not in charge of that department, people. Sorry.
Rian?

Yeah count me in on the trailor, too.

Dooood, is anyone online anymore? I'm dying without my dose of Crazy Jane.

Doooood, you'll never walk alone, Matt.
The trailer unfortunately is going to remain MIA for awhile, especially now that Focus bought the movie. They have real professional trailer elves that stay up all hours in a magic hollow tree baking trailers, and they wouldn't take kindly to our homespun rogue trailer with uncleared music floating around on the web. I promise a trailer will appear eventually though, along with a new website and (eventually) the actual movie.
SHAKE!
